I founded Analysis by Design in 2011 with a view to growing an IT consulting firm around the technologies I know and love. As yet, I have not had the time or opportunity to grow beyond myself – the work keeps coming in, but it is all in my specialist areas and taking on additional support has not yet seemed necessary.
After graduating from Aston University with a BSc in Computing Science in 1993, I have had a number of roles in IT, starting as a developer and progressing to department manager, before founding Analysis by Design providing consulting and contract based MySQL database administration and support.
My technical expertise is varied and extensive – data analysis using Microsoft Excel and Access, website design and development, large scale database design and performance tuning and automated infrastructure provision on AWS using Terraform and Ansible.
I have worked on a variety of large scale data analysis and eCommerce projects, using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Linux, shell programming, PHP, Microsoft Office (Excel and Access), and others.
Most recently I have been involved in a large platform migration from a traditional data centre into the Amazon AWS Cloud platform, leveraging their Infrastructure, Platform and Software as a Service offerings (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
I have over 20 years IT and managerial experience behind us in a variety of sectors including;
